Conch Shell achieves her first major victory at the 42nd Nakayama Mares Stakes, breaking the top-ranked horse, Jinx’s record.

The 42nd Nakayama Himba Stakes, in which Konkshell claimed her first prestigious victory, was a GIII race held at Nakayama Racecourse. In this race, 16 racehorses competed on a 1800 meter turf track. The 5th favorite, Konkshell, rode by jockey Nozomu Iwata, took the honors. The winning time was 1 minute and 49.0 seconds.

Looking at the results of the Nakayama Himba Stakes over the past 10 years, horses that were within the 9th position at the 4th corner in the previous race have achieved remarkable results, with 9 wins, 8 second places, and 5 third places. In this race, Konkshell chose to take the lead from the start. Jockey Iwata explained, The start was good, so I chose to go to the lead with vigor. There was a response when I pursued in the straight line, and since the inside did not stretch, I went out.

In the end, Konkshell, a daughter of Satono Diamond who finished second in the Hanshin JF two years ago, demonstrated her full ability, leading to her victory. The 6th favorite, Shinryokuka, ridden by jockey Takeuchi, finished in third place after making a comeback from inside.

The Nakayama Himba Stakes, a G3 race limited to female horses, is difficult to predict. The top favorite has suffered nine consecutive defeats since the victory of Foorabride in 2014, but this time, the 5th favorite Konkshell ran a magnificent race and broke that jinx.
