C Osaka and FC Tokyo draw with two goals from Ryotaro Araki: Opening match of the 2024 J1 League

On February 24, 2024, the first match of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League took place between C Osaka and FC Tokyo. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, but newcomer Ryotaro Araki, a midfielder for FC Tokyo, stood out with two goals.

Ryotaro Araki, a 22-year-old midfielder, who played for the Kashima Antlers in the J1 League until last season, joined FC Tokyo on loan this season. He made an immediate impact in his new team by scoring two goals in this match.

On the other hand, C Osaka welcomed the opening match under new coach Kogiku, with Japanese national team players Shoya Maikuma and Shinji Kagawa, among others. New midfielder Shunta Tanaka also performed well, but the match ended in a draw with FC Tokyo.

In FC Tokyo’s defensive line, second-year professional Mikita Doi, a young player, was in the starting lineup. Doi displayed a solid performance in his first opening game, suggesting a promising future.

On the following day, February 25, FC Tokyo faced SC Sagamihara in a training match and claimed a 2-0 victory. Not only the performance of newcomer Ryotaro Araki is expected, but also an overall improvement in the team’s ability is anticipated.
